The Commons will support faculty development, provide an array of information resources, a revitalized library, state-of-the-art classrooms, and student computer labs and training space. The Commons is designed as a dynamic facility that can evolve over time without requiring major renovations. This four-story curvilinear steel-framed building has multiple levels that follow the slope of the site.

Residence Halls & Dining Facility  Expected to be complete fall 2011, Xavier University’s 535-bed four- to five-story, 240,000 sq ft residence halls and 800-seat dining facility is a sprawling $50 million dollar complex comprised of five separate buildings linked by connecting elements and shared spaces. Additionally, the new building will feature many LEED aspects including a green roof, as well as provide open, common areas to facilitate student community interaction.

This new elementary school consists of two- and three-story classroom pods totaling 54,400 sq ft, a 9,800 sq ft gymnasium/cafeteria and a 4,500 sq ft media center. Typical construction consists of 4 inch concrete slabs supported by bar joists and bearing on reinforced masonry walls. Light gage metal trusses with wide ribbed metal deck and standing seam roof make up a majority of the roof structure. Exposed specialty roof trusses were designed with web members forming a monogram “M’ over the gymnasium/cafeteria. The center of the building contains a monumental staircase cantilevered from a single center column.

SETON HIGH SCHOOL GARAGE / ACADEMIC ADDITION

– Cincinnati, OH

We provided the structural design for the $13.5 million additions and renovations to this academic campus. A new three-story 70,000 sq ft post-tensioned concrete parking garage was built on the southeast corner of the campus. The top level of the garage connects to the second floor of the existing school with a new corridor bridge. The academic addition consists of a new gymnasium, commons area and an administrative wing. In addition, several floors of the existing building were renovated to provide improved academic space including science laboratories. The gymnasium is 15,000 sq ft with masonry walls and bar joist roof framing. The academic addition is 17,000 sq ft using steel moment frames to allow for a continuous curtain wall system and eliminate obstructions. The classroom addition includes renovation of the existing gymnasium into a multi-purpose room.
